Quite a find. Twangy art-indiabilly, like neo-Thinking Fellers Blues Explosion, which if contained more lyrical ooomph would turn my feet skyward. Male-female vocal dueling over atmospacy Sincola-meets-10,000 Maniacs tracks, only with less polish and more heart, this recording comes out of basically nowhere and keeps on going despite itself. There's some excellent guitar tennis racket here, but the magic is only 2/3 existent overall - songs like "Summer" and "Soap Scum" make me smile, yet in a weird sort of way. A perfect exercise in "almost..." if I've ever heard one; bargain-bin eyebrow raised.
