The Feelings, [Especially For You], Pop Secret/DarlaBuilt to Spill + Halo Benders + Sone + Sincere Rainbows = casiocore bliss. The Feelings are another of those Super Groups, whose amazing musical powers are graciously directed towards the common scratchy-fi good. 10 lovely whiny songs in around 2/3 of an hour, and every last one makes me wiggle-bounce and sing-along loudly. The sincere stand-outs are "Blowin' My Mind Like A Summer Breeze" (near-perfect song-fu) and "Please Be Quiet, Please, Please, Please" (sweetly somber and sonically superior). Some people might cry "joke!" upon first listen, but their ears and hearts are clearly defective - this rules.

Ford Pier, [Meconium], WrongSemi smart-ass Canadian songwriter guy who definitely has talent, yet might not please everyone's artistic tastes. Personally, I find the exercise akin to a small amount of sit ups - easy to take and relatively good for me. Far more intelligent and far less serious than most albums you're likely to find, and rest assured that Mr. Pier doesn't have much respect for genre - everything is fair game, from donkey-reggae to semi-clamorous sarcastic rockets. Basically, Ford Pier is an un-punk Dr. Frank, and I'm all the happier because. Still, my tastes are broad, so satisfaction isn't guaranteed.

Fuck, [Pretty...Slow], RhesusRather grand concoction with the always beneficial Geoff Soule musical presence. Yeah, I was always the biggest Fibulatee, but my attraction to this group is based more upon sheer sonic pleasure, in a slow yet steady sort of way. The nine well-constructed songs collected here meander from full-on energetic rocketry ("hide face") to shiny, solid uniqueness ("one eye out the door"). There's too many musical influences going on for me to select the strongest threads, but just think of a car trip through the desert night, with occasional cacti and far-off mountains - a pleasing movement forwards.
